You must complete the full online pre-application to be added to the waiting list. After your pre-application is received, you will be contacted by mail with further instructions. Alternatively, after completing your pre-application, you may register as an applicant and upload clear pictures of the required documents.
We try to process every application in a timely manner. Your application will be processed once all information is received (Landlord References, Police Background Check, and Income and Expense Verification). You will be contacted with information needed along with a deadline date for return of missing items to BHA.
You MUST provide the BHA with a clear photocopy of your Social Security Card and Birth Certificate for all household members, regardless of age. We cannot process your application for housing assistance without these documents for all family members. If submitted online, you may be required to present the originals at a later date.
The BHA is required by law to verify ALL family income. The BHA has the ability to obtain wage information through State Wage databases, Social Security benefits through the Social Security Administration database, any unemployment compensation, and any pensions for each person in your household. You must provide the BHA with your employer’s name, complete mailing address, and telephone number if you are currently employed, or support or other income on a continuing basis, you must report the names, addresses, and telephone numbers of these sources of income. If you are receiving Social Security Benefits, Supplemental Security Income, Veteran Administration benefits or any other type of payment based on your inability to work, you must provide the BHA with a copy of your award(s) letter.
The head of the household of the family must have the legal capacoty to enter into a dwelling lease under state law (Legal age being at least twenty-one (21) years of age or older or an emanicipated minor by way of Marriage or Court).
To be eligible for admission, an applicant must qualify as a family. A family, as defined by the Department of Housing and Urban Development, includes a family with a child or children, two or more elderly or disabled persons living together, one or more elderly or disable person living with a live-in-aide, or a Single Person.
